Guilds & Adventurers-Input sought

Mystic Eye

First Post
Hi all,

With our Guilds and Adventurers book out and doing well I thought I would ask some questions of those who may have it and plan to use it in their campaign.

I have a few questions I would love to hear from you on.

1) How will you be using G&A in your game?
2) Which Guilds are most appealing to you as a GM?
3) Which guilds are most appealing to your players?
4) Will your PCs be looking for henchmen and associates from the guild or will they become guildsmen themselves?

For those who have not picked it up or are on the fence. What would entice you to check it out?

I agree with Voadam, but seriously I would like to know:

1. into what depth does the sourcebook look at sample guild rules/generation.
2. the growth of guilds, as in how to integrate into a campaign the beginnings of guilds, how they grow.
3. how to integrate adventurers with guilds. Ie. what happens to the players when they sell captured items in a settlement with a guild presence and what could/will/should happen.

Basically what the book contains in generating guilds/ guild enforcement and integration into an existing campaign.

I saw a copy in my local store yesterday, but unfortunately did not have the time to check it out.

To start with, Joe Kushner wrote a good review for Guilds and Adventurers here at EN World that touches on a lot of your questions. May as well reference that.

I would say this book clearly focuses mostly on item 3. It is designed for adventurers to become part of the guild directly, affiliated with a guild, or to find great henchment and hirelings from a guild with clearly defined abilities and progressions from Apprentice through Grande Master.

There are 11 specialty detailed organizations and guilds that provide examples as well as 30 generic guilds (Listed in the review above).
We do go into integrating the guilds into your campaign and I believe the very structure and approach we use makes that easy. We don't go into many specific details as campaigns may very greatly so we left it as open ended as possible.
Things like what would be considered a reasonable profit on some types of items are left to the GM.

Let me know if that helped you at all!

Actually seeing it in my FLGS. ;)

I am *very* pleased that this product is doing well for you, as I have always considered guilds to be woefully ignored (actually, entirely ignored) for over 25 years of D&D. Always mentioned in a myriad of D&D city products, there has been no mention on how these guilds could be used with adventurers. Finally, that time has come.

I am glad that other gamers see the use in this product, and that other related products may actually see the light of day (instead of "Quintessential High Favor Elf Book #312").

As soon as I see it, I'm buying it.

Hi Anrwyn,

What is the name and area of the store? I would love to give them a call to get them on board with us.

Also, does your store take requests for products? I know lots of stores do because they cannot keep up with all that is out there.

Thanks for the kind words and feedback!

I'll let you know - as of last week it wasn't there, but I'm toodling over to my two FLGS's nearby after I get out of the office today, so hopefully it's there at one of them.

(Yes, they do take requests for orders, but it's usually lousy and unreliable. But I do it anyways...)
