The answer to that is "Yes, but..."

The trouble is that what I really wanted was Castle Zagyg, but unfortunately Gygax Games have managed to do their best to squash that product.

Gary still has unpublished work. And it's not just whatever of Castle Zagyg he did. There are several things for Lejendary Adventure for instance that were going to be published. So people foolishly thinking there's "nothing left of Gary" have no idea. I know because I've waited over a decade to see some stuff for LA get out of the "waiting to be published queue".

As long as people are interested in the writer, people will be interested.

The only thing I personally am bitter about is how fans have really treated Gail Gygax over the past few years. Do people honestly think they know what Gary wanted better than Gail? Even if she has a different interpretation of Gary's plans, by golly nobody else in the world other than her has earned that right to do that.

I know and believe whatever she has planned with be very respectful to Gary and will be done right.

Same here. Though I don't know if I would want a Castle Zagyg done in the 4E D&D ruleset, in the hypothetical scenario of it being revived.

Why are you so worried about that?! You assume that it would be for 4th Edition even though it's pretty clear Gary didn't want to lose control of his property. The only way I could see Hasbro ever being interested in that is for Gail to sell the work outright, something I highly doubt she would do. And I don't see Hasbro wanting to do that.

It would probably be a more likely scenario to see Castle Zagyg turned into a computer game. That would be a dream Gary always had--you wouldn't believe how hard he worked in the 1990s to get into computer gaming. And computer games can fund the development of print games (not the other way around).

But then again, I guess we'll just wait and see.

Offhand I don't see it being done for 1E AD&D. If Castle Zagyg was to done for an in-print tabletop pen-and-paper rpg, Pathfinder or Castles & Crusades would seem a better fit than 4E D&D. Though I have no idea if they want to go back to Castles & Crusades.

I'm just hopeful that we'll have some definitive news soon, which the messaging supports. There's not much point speculating as to when or what will be published, or for what edition/system.

Hmmm... if you are right, that would be fantastic. I know he believed that computer RPGs were the future, and he was quite correct in that despite my preference for the pencil and paper versions. His family also loved the PC Baldur's Gate series, or I remember reading that somewhere.
