Gygax Statue Memorial Update

For those wondering what was going on with the plans to build a Gygax Memorial in Lake Geneva, the fund now has a web site.

There will be announcements in the future about other fund raising activities for this project. (I think there are plans at GenCon for something, but we'll get more news as it happens).

Slight topic tangent: there are memorials to Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson in D&D Online. I was pleased when I came across them.

I know you were kidding, but I'd kind of like these threads to avoid going into that "build a dungeon/the PHB Idol" type of tangents.This is a project that will take some funds to do, and has to be approved by Lake Geneva's local government. (I'd hate for any of them to take some of these suggestions literally).

Gary's creation and founding of TSR did a lot for the world, but also did a lot for the local Lake Geneva economy--TSR stayed in Lake Geneva up until WoTC moved it to Seattle, providing a few hundred jobs and tax revenues to the locals, not to mention income from the workers who live there in the local area. I hope approval gets passed and that funding will be completed, and that they recognize the game's contribution to culture over the years.
