H.A.R.P. Anyone? (FREE R.P.G. BOOK)

You could send it my way because the Red Sox haven't won the World Series since 1918. Or because my avatar (the pandadog) is sick cute. Infuriatingly so. Or because I just finished my MA in English.

Best,
Nick

You could send it to me because, lo these two years and further, I have given the world such love with my webcomic, and asked for nothing in return. For reference, recent comic updates have been done entirely with a (virtual) paintbrush, in full colour. Does my sterling labour mean naught?

Also, my beloved dog may be dying. And I'm rather poor and can't affort many books - freelance artistry doesn't pay too well.

There's no weepy violin smiley, but the above is quite true.

Public Library?

Grapeshot has an idea i beleive that can be expanded on. Cycling systems to 'try them out'. There are tape traders of live shows (all legal mind you) where one man makes a list of people who want to join the tree. Each person makes 2 copies of the show (remember this is legal to copy b/c its live stuff) and sends the master to the next in line, postage and shipping included.

I propose a list of people to try out the book for 1-2 weeks apiece. This should be limited to main systems (d20 / Hero...) / campaign sourcebooks (Kalamar, etc..) as a way to introduce new systems by means of a personal (as opposed to external) review.

I for one cannot afford to buy a new book, and even with raving reviews from everyone a system might not fit my personal tastes, however i am always open to new stuff and crave it from time to time. Perhaps another thread titled "EnWorld Public Library" with tracking of who has what, and who wants what when would be more appropriate than hijacking this thread.

Its amazing how a 2 sentence reply can evolve into a full fledged idea as-you-type, eh?

Oh, and about the H.A.R.P. book, I really dont care who gets it, but it would be nice if this idea takes off.

So, why you?

Other than the fact that the guy with the big sword said so?

Because I love collecting obscure items, and then drawing bits of them into my campaigns. I don't think I've ever run a game where I didn't somehow manage to mix systems, and more material gives me more stuff to mix!

Oh, and I'm poor. Student life doesn't really afford me the luxury of buying all the RPG products I'd like. So you should give it to me. And count it as a tax deduction. Or something. Charity to students, perhaps?

Hmm... Those weren't overly convincing. On second thought, just remember the guy with the big sword!

Dang it. Well, imagine that there's a guy with a big sword saying so!

Oh, and my name comes from an electronic component. With nerd/geek/dork skills like that, I obviously need an RPG book!

Hey-- I just wanted to let you know that it was a cool thing to give away HARP like that

I am not interested in it (I have 2 copies 1st and 2nd printing) but if you can't find a good person to give it too here find one fo those help a GI things and give it to them --

HARP is all in one book and quite cool

Personally I think you should keep it and try it out the next time the low magic bug hits you -- its a great low magic game with enough in common with Arcana Unearthed, 3xD&D, MERP and Rolemaster to make for a short learning curve
