The product between a tryst of a mortal race and a a great drake, half-dragons are as varied as the human they may be descended from. They may be found amongst outcasts and loners or as nobles and leaders amongst the greatest of society. They might be the great part-human warrior with destructive tendencies, the plucky, coppery-skinned halfling thief or the secluded dwarven wizard who wears a hood to hide her scourge-tainted blood.
Play a half-dragon if you want to...
to have a dragon's strength in body and mind
to be anything from a noble, unique knight to a way to seek clean your blood
To be a member of a race that favours the warlord, wizard and swordmage classes
Physical Qualities:
Half-dragon's appearances are varied, but there are common features, such as scales, elongated features, reptilian eyes, large fangs and horns. Some may have large, sharp claws while others have wings. Depending on they're heritage, they may have some features specific to the dragon. Otherwise, they look similar to they're other half
Playing Half-Dragons:
If there's anything a half-dragon is, it's versatility and loneliness. A half-dragon's personality is varied based on it's heritage. Regardless, all half-dragons either see they're draconic blood as either superiority to they're people or a curse that holds more guilt than they're wings can sometimes hold. Of course, they may not think much of it at all, just viewing it being no different than the human or elf side of being a half-elf. Like that same half-elf, the life of being a hybrid race is one with little real companionship, but even more so with the dragon-hybrids. Half-dragons usually live for hundreds of years, and while they may make lifelong friendships and romances with some, it's feels more like a short ally or fling for them. Each one is usually unique to it's kind and even they do find another of they're exact kind, half-dragons aren't inclined to stay with each other or even like they're company, perhaps out of a feeling of competition. Others might feel estranged or even scared by the alien appearance of a half-dragon, even ones that are reputed to have good reputations.
Chromatic descended often see themselves as deserving everything they claim because of they're blood. They seek out treasure wherever it is and will actually take glee in resorting to violence to get it, venting out they're destructive urges. They are predators, and whether that means they are merciless and hungry socialites or literal predators is up to them. Some chromatics feel ashamed of they're blood, perhaps seeking adventure to save themselves from they're blood or to loose themselves in adventuring, whether that be through gold, anonymity, battle or death.
Metallics see a different side of the story. Because of they're blood is often seen as more of a blessing than a curse and because they often live up to the idea of an ideal citizen, they are treated well. Some are adopted from an early age by noble families and raised as royalty, and some were already born into it. Others find themselves serving the gods, and there is a higher percentage of metallic blooded half-dragons who serve divine forces. There are a few who see this as an advantage and try to manipulate other to do what they want. Many adventure to protect the people who accepted them or to serve higher ideals, and some just do it for the gold.
Catastrophic descended often have trouble containing they're urge to bring ruin and chaos that is in them. Though they may go through a more disciplined path, the way of destruction is never far from they're thoughts, even if they do suppress it. Many find working in arenas and fight clubs an enjoyable profession, while others see that through raiding and mercenary work can they satisfy they're urge for devastation without any fear of breaking rules. Still, others give in completely to they're anarchic heritage and serve primordial masters, whether they be the aloof and erratic achromentals or the vicious demon lords of the Abyss. The chaos that churns in a catastrophic half-dragon's blood often leads them to move to (or get exiled from) many places, and thus they often find that adventuring can satisfy all the urges they seek.
A planar blooded half-dragon's personality is often based on the dragon it actually it's heritage from. Astral blooded half-dragons often seem aloof and distant, and though they often work closely with the gods, they pay no allegiance to any temple. Shadow descended are often of questionable character as they are often either seen as shady and untrustworthy or almost obsessed with death, both of which are viewed dangerously. Faerie blooded characters are less destructive than catastrophic but they are just as erratic and organized while also seeming cold and flighty. Abyssal dragons are sadistic creatures who have a perchance for pain and death, and they're children are the same, while far descended creatures are often born with insanity and die because of it while they live in the middle of it.
Scourge dragons are almost always fall into two camps: ones that hate they're blood and themselves along with everything else with a passion and the ones that almost unredeemably evil. Those of the first group are those who often adventure, trying to get away from civilization and themselves. The others are the ones that act against those adventurers in dungeons where they are free to kill and worship any dark god or primordial they wish.
Of course, a half-dragon is just that - half-dragon. The other parent's culture and heritage also contribute, so a half-gold dragon with tiefling lineage may hide in the shadows and fear no darkness, but that is equal part devious and shady and equal part courage and benevolence. A half-green elf similarly is a protector of the forest and friend to the animals, but her tactics are almost savage and she may instigate the dangers that come to the cities of canopy.

Lao is a half-silver dragon with halfling lineage. Up until recently, Lao had a distinguished history of military command and service, everything from heading dragonborn gladiators to elven archers to noble human barbarians. A few years ago, Lao was in charge of a battalion of crusaders who hunted fiends. When Lao and his company finally found the diabolical creature, the creature made a deal with him for a large sum of silver if he killed his company so he could take they're souls. Lao obliged, selling his soul to a literral devil. Lao resigned his services as a mercenary for hire to drown his sorrows in silver for what he had done. When his fortune ran out, he sought redemption for his actions. His once gleaming armour is now painted black and the various badges and medals that decorated his chest are long gone, leaving an open torso and a bleeding heart. In combat, Lao doesn't hesitate to put himself in danger and will lead his comrades to the safest way possible.
Andraya is a half-typhoon dragon swordmage with human lineage. Though she is devoted to mastering the art of mixing sword and sorcery taught to her by her noble house, her constant urges to do battle and her destructive heritage has left her house in ruin. With all the money that was used to pay off officials and repay the damage to the town left the family in debt. After taking money from a burgher, the family rose from it's slow degrade to poverty to prosperity, but not without a price. After a few years of escaping and dodging payments from the burgher thugs, the family made an escape to the city to restart they're life. But it didn't take long for the loaner to catch up with them. While Andraya was out, her entire family was killed by his thugs. Now she travels the nation, searching for the man who killed her family and to unleash her destructive urges onto him.
Ts'canni is a half-red dragon wizard with githyanki lineage. Born in the breeding pits in the material plane, the fortress she was birthed from was razed by a group of adventurers days after her conception. With her being one of the last living things in the castle, the noble adventurers took her to the nearest town's orphanage. Though she was a strange child, the village itself was an oddity with many races and bloodlines so she was looked after with support and kindness. Though her arrogance as a githyanki was amplified by her red blood and wizardly training, she doesn't view the people that surround her with disdain as a normal githyanki (or half-dragon or wizard for that matter). As most of her profession (though she names it "warlock") she wants to learn more of the spells and rituals that give her power. In combat, she looks at her spell tossing as mere experiments, the enemies as test subjects and the wounds she sustains as accidents, so it's safe to say she doesn't take it very seriously, though she would beg to differ perhaps only if she can.
