half-dwarf, half-goliath

First Post
I am a total n00b to d&d (though I have a strong white-wolf background) so this might be a stupid question. I want to make a half dwarf, half goliath character. How would I go about making one (race modifiers, etc)? Are they allowed according to the books? He'll be a monk (or a monk/fighter, or a monk/ranger, or a monk/mage), so will that affect mixing these races in any way? Is there info on half-goliaths in Races of Stone, or other, more recent books? Thanks!

Wellll... Anything is allowed according to the books, you just have to find a game where the DM allows such a character. Tough proposition at best. :]

Dunno about half-goliaths. Just add a giant template to the standard dwarf. Be prepared though, you're probably looking at an ECL of at least +3. And that can be a pretty hefty penalty to play. :uhoh:

While rules for goliaths are in Races of Stone, there are no rules listed for half-goliaths, nor are there rules anywhere in WotC's material for half-dwarves, to say nothing of half-dwarves/half-goliaths. You'll need to create such a crossbreed on your own.

Not to mention that the Monk is a subpar choice for multiclassing. You can multiclass at will, but you can never take another level of Monk.

What about dworcs? I heard a book called "Midnight" talked about dworcs (half-dwarves, half-orcs). If they don't have anything to do with making half-dwarves, forgive me, I'm a n00b.

I do not own the "Races of Stone" book, so I can not say anything about Goliaths.
In Green Ronin´s Book "Advanced Bestiary" and in Mongoose´s "Ultimate Monsters 1" is a template for Half-Giants. It is CR +1. I do not own these books and I do not know how useful this template is to you.
