I posted it. In my campaign, we do this. Rather than a conflicted personality, IMC they gain the best of both race's personailty.

Edit: However, I never said I didn't like it :) It would be reeeal good to have a 'core' race which has a CHA bonus. Just not sure if Skill Points or a semblance of a feat could 'fit it in better' though

The motion by Mr. Reynold is seconded. Tweak, yes. Within core rules, no. Possible inclusion as an option sidebar in revised books, maybe.

Re

Half-elf is fine to me. I choose it often when I make a character.

I feel many folks highly underrate the ability to multi-class as anything as well as the abilities they obtain. Fine race in my opinion.

I only think the race needs tweaking with houserules if you houserule the multiclassing XP penalty :D

In that case, I'd give them another feat.

Ok let me rephrase...the get essentialy nothing from there human side. that essentialy only comes into play if you want to take 3 non prestige classes and not keep them within a couple levels of each other.

Two non-prestige classes.

If you want to play, say, a Rogue with a level or two of Sorcerer, your options from the core races are halfling, human, or half-elf.

A Ranger/Druid? Human or half-elf.

Half-elves get Favored Class: Any from their human parents. Which makes them just as good for multiclassing as humans.

With the exception that Humans get more skill points and an extra feat.

I chose option #10 - Belongs in House Rules. :D

You need to know the history, I think the context is that we are playing with what the best fix for half-elves in 3.5 would be.

Now it is a bit of a conceit on our part to think that this will have any effect at all on the final 3.5 product but I would prefer that people allow us our self-delusions and we will pretend that what we do here will have some affect on the future rules of the game.

Ysgarran.

p.s.
If you insist on tearing down our conceits, then yes, this probably belongs in the house rules forum. ;)

Since many of the changes in 3.5 are based off of customer feedback, I think it's a conceit that has some basis in fact.

My vote is #11, add a 3.5 tag to the title, and keep the thread right here.

True enough, but I get the feeling that things are bit late in the process to really effect the final outcome of 3.5.
