Half-fiend/Solar

Imagine Asmodeus was to capture a Solar and imprison him for 10,000 years. Also, the Solar has been injected with the blood of Asmodeus himself everyday for those 10,000 years. Would it be reasonable to assume the Solar has been corrupted?

What I'm really asking is, under those circumstance's, would it be logical to add the half-fiend template to the Solar because of it's corruption and exposure to hell?

That's up the individual DM. I think it would, but it's lose a lot of it's solar powers. I think the end creature would be much weaker then a normal Solar. Also, there would be attempts to rescue the captured Solar.

I ran an adventure in the PlaneScape (thinks that is the name) yea the planes of choas, with a similar idea.

A deva spark had been placed into an evil creature by accident. The result was awful The poor creature wanted destruction but felt so bad for everything it did...the deva spark acted like a very LOUD concious.

If you were to use a half solar template realize that it would be a wimp in so many circumstances. That bad guy would be like "kill them!!!!!" and if the Pc's roleplayed it out they would be able to get the Solar to stop. Just by appealing to its good side.

In the end such a creature can't exist because it goes mad and both sides till it to kill itself. The bad side because it wants to destroy something good and the good side because its desire to destroy the evil.

You can play it out and just say 'hey it works' lol I do that a lot with wierd creations. It is fun remember the PC's dont' need to know EVERYTHING about the creature. But for a bit of fun the template should include a confusion, it makes the creature more fun.

In the adventure I talked about earlier the creature attacked a tavern (in Arborea? I think) and the sheep outside bolted scared of the twisted creature. He blasted down one wall of the inn and looked over to see a sheep misstep and fall in the water. Even though he had just killed like 4 people and wounded another he freaked out. That sheep had to be saved. That poor creature. And he freaked out and ran and saved the sheep. It was bizzare but a fun adventure confusion breeds plot no?

I have a question, has the solar become a willing recipient of the powers that ccould be granted by this situation. Meaning, if I were a solar and I was being tortured in this fashion, I would use every fiber of my well-being to resist the corruption, meaning if I were to get free, I wouldn't go using my fiendish powers to cause chaos and evil. I think the solar would lose their solar powers, but they wouldn't willingly use any fiendish powers they had gained. In my opinion the solar would destroy themselves as soon as possible to rid their corrupted presence from the world and thereby protect it from evil.

Just my thoughts, it is sort of like the fallen paladin who becomes a blackguard, you trade in paladin powers for blackguard powers, and that could happen with the solar but since it would be involuntary the solar wouldn't use the powers gained.

Wolf, did you miss the part about him having the actual BLOOD OF ASMODEUS flowing in his veins? Wouldn't you be a little different if this happend to you?

I hate to bring this up, but even Jesus was tempted by Satan.

So, why couldn't a Solar, even though they're at the top of the celestial ladder, be corrupted by the most powerful devil in existance?

I personally see nothing wrong with this, I was just asking what others opinons are of this.

I did not miss the part of the blood, but since when does blood actually change your will? I don't see getting a blood transfusion changing who you are, I see it adding power, but not changing spirit.

Jesus was tempted, but he resisted, and in his temptation he never gave into the alleged promises, he did not summon any demons, cast any contagion spells, or likewise. Your example is a reason to say that this situation would not change the solar.

If you want to do it, do it, I am certainly not going to tell you you can't. I have added every template to ever creature in existence practically, although I must admit I have never made a half fiend celestial before.

I just think the result wouldn't be as uncertain as you are looking for. Basically, I think you have three results

1) Solar loses all celestial powers and becomes a fiend using fiendish powers and openly embraces what they have become.

2) Solar loses some celestial powers, gains some fiendish powers but chooses not to use the fiendish powers and is thereby a weak solar.

3) Solar resists the effects does not lose any solar powers and does not gain any fiendish powers, and is just a severly tortured solar.

Personally I think the actual result would be 3. I think 2 wouldn't end up being very usable because of the diminshed capactity and inner conflict. 1 isn't anything special, a fiend that looks like a solar.

You can add the template to the solar, no problem, that doesn't mean he would use any of the abilities gained from it. Movies and novels are full of heroes who resist the evil influences that have been places upon them. Off the top of my head, Blade born a vampire, but resisting the thirst. Conan the barbarian, grows up as a slave and a pit fighter, but regardless of how he was treated, or what was instilled in him by his surroundings, in the end stays on a path of determined justice and is a hero. You could use the Terminator from Terminator 2 if you like, you see him perfectly capable of destroying anything he comes across, but when John tells him to stop killng people he does, although he could, he resists. I think the solar is pretty much the same, just because you recieve a blood transfusion and get tortured a bit doesn't have to make you a monster.

Where did I see a Fallen Angel template? Was it in Legions of Hell, by Green Ronin?

If so, I remember being impressed by it at the time!
