Half-nymph template from Dragon #313

What is your opinion on it ? It seem almost too powerful for ECL +2.

Would make a great sorceror

And if I was to add that template to an elf, do I also get the elf Dex +2, Con -2 ? For a total stats mod of Dex +4, Int +2, Con -2, Wis +2 and Cha +4 ?

I ask this because under Abilities it's written: "Change from the base creature as follows". I haven't dealt with a lot of templates so is this common wording ?

I don't know what the halfnymph template is. But yes racial penalties.bonuses stack with those of a template. So you get in addition the the template bonuses +2 more dex and -2 con.

If the base creature is an elf and is the elf's abilities are (for example):
Str 10
Dex 20
Con 8
Int 12
Wis 10
Cha 14

And you add the half-nymph template to that particular elf, you get

Str 10
Dex 22
Con 8
Int 14
Wis 12
Cha 18

Why do you say it is overpowered? What are the other benefits of this template? Charm ability? (I don't have that issue of Dragon)

Beauty that makes onlookers within 30' shaken on a failed save (this effect can be switched off/on as a free action), low-light vision and she also counts as a fey for stuff like charm person and activating magic items. (She doesn't actually have the creature Type: Fey, though.)

+2 is fair IMO.

Like Darkness said for the other powers.

I felt it's a bit overpowered because of the high stats bonus (total of +10). It seem just too good.

Other races give less for only +1 ECL.

Might ask the DM if I can play that .... Just not sure if I want to play something with an exp penality.

It's still a bad sorcerer racial template, just because +2 LA is nowhere near worth +4 cha. If your DM allows LA buyoff from UA, then go for it. Otherwise, you'll basically always be a full spell levle behind a regular sorcerer, and that will hurt a lot.
