Can you use HofA with/on a great sword or a scythe? Is there a place in the rules that clearly state one way or the other?

The only requirement is that the weapon be a held melee weapon with which you are trained. Wizards don’t have proficiency with martial weapons by default, so it won’t work unless you get trained from somewhere else (e.g., a dedication or general feat). In that case, I don’t see why not. The item in question would be a held melee weapon with which you are trained.

At first level took Ancient Elf which gives you a multiclass dedication for a Heritage feat from Pathfinder Lost Omens: Character Guide. Then took a Great Pick for the lethal d12. My Wizard stats are 14, 14, 12, 18, 10, 10. Have to have 14 str and 14 dex for Fighter dedication.
