Handiest Super Power?

I'd take the ability to manipulate vectors, as used by Accelerator from the light novel/anime series A Certain Magical Index.
Any vector. Anything that can be expressed as a magnitude and a direction, I can manipulate it. Which is basically every single force you can imagine. It's essentially the omni-power. In the context of that series, it can even shut down teleporters, because apparently teleportation works by 8th-dimensional vectors or something like that. Plus it comes with an auto-invulnerability mode, in that the default, reflexive setting (which functions even unconsciously) is to reflect harmful vectors.
Hypothetically, that could even apply to time. Not sure if that's been adressed in the series or not -- I know it hasn't been done in the anime, but my knowledge of the light novels is pretty sketchy.
The one downside is that you wind up pretty pasty-looking and need to make sure you get plenty of vitamin D in your diet, since the automatic defensive side of the power blocks all UV light :p

For a slightly less ludicrously hax power, I'd take telekinesis. It's pretty versatile -- you can fly, shoot mind bullets, stop regular bullets, get that book from across the room without leaving your comfy spot on the couch...

Thing with any power is that it has to incorporate some manner if protecting you from capture or assassination. Because people and governments will capture you or kill you. Someone will want it or hate you, and that will keep happening.

So whatever power you have has to incorporate a fantastic defence mechanism. If you only have one power, that's a difficult choice. Teleportation doesn't defend you against a bullet, and immortality doesn't make an underground cell go away.

That's why I went with luck. The bullet would miss me, the cell door would be left unlocked, etc. Plus I'd be rich.

Over on Cracked, the After Hours series, they group decided the best super power to have was Zack Morris' (from Saved by the Bell) ability to stop time. I can't really argue with that.

But you don't get super reactions. So someone just has to shoot you. Can you stop time before the bullet hits you?

How about just plain-old control over time then? If you have the patience, live your whole life in slow motion (i.e. everything moves in slow motion around you, but you move in slow motion as well, so you don't appear to be acting out of the ordinary). You hear the sound of a gunshot, stop time while the bullet is still moving in slow motion towards you. Somebody sneaks up and grabs you? Stop time and wriggle your way out.

There's still flaws in there with silenced bullets and things, but you can manipulate time powers to also serve as super-reflexes.

...Then again I imagine living your whole life in slow motion might drive someone to insanity, and potential supervillain status.

Reality manipulation would be awesomely broken to have since it's essentially the ability to have every power.... same with magic (assuming you don't have to research your spells). However, I think teliportation would be one of the best powers especially f you could teliport any object or people who you could precieve.

A social chameleon, someone whom people would just assume belonged wherever he was, could accomplish tremendous things without anyone ever knowing it. Imagine walking into a bank and emptying the vault because the tellers thought you were supposed to. Or walk into the Big Evil Guy's fortress and shut off the defenses because his guards think that's your job. Lots of possibilities...
