I usually handle it at the table, trusting the other players to separate player vs character knowledge. For the most part, that works pretty well.

However, if I were running an intrigue-heavy game (or, in my recent campaign which attempted a "divided loyalties" theme), then I would have the player step into the next room.

I tend to do a bit of both, it really depends on the situation. Sometimes it is good to do it at the table to keep things going, but other times I like to take a player to the side quickly especially if it is something personal that is happening with their character.

The party I am reffing at the moment has the tendency to split up and try to do different things which makes things difficult at times.
