Happy Father's Day!

I'm not a dad, but today was:
Go to a baptism, along with post-baptismal party.
Sit in a coffee house drinking espresso.

A pretty laid back day. :)

Got up, took some time to work work in the garden - first time in a long time I've been able to enjoy it as opposed to trying to get it done between everything else.

Went in to shower - got my presents before that so I could put on one of the t-shirts my kids made with their handprints on them.

My wife made pancakes for breakfast.

Then the calm Father's Day ended. Ran to the grocery store before the arrival of my parents, then proceeded to finish painting the bedroom both kids will be moving into after my son's new bed arrives this week. Painting in 90 degree heat is not fun.

Fired up the grill, cooked dinner for everyone; burgers, corn on the cob, potato salad and strawberry shortcake for desert.

Got the kids to bed, and followed suit.

not a dad

My Father's day was lackluster- but my dad enjoyed it, so I can t complain.

My family is huge- 9 plus parents. So every gathering is a challenge. Every year, it is usually up to me to call and plan everything.

This year, one brother has to work, another said he might be able tomake it, another is caught on the east coast and cant make it to LA, one sister is a principle and cannot take this last weekend off because Summerschool starts soon and she has to work, one brother loves his friends ans asked if they can come too. When I told him it was a family affair, he got offended and decided not to come. My two younger brothers and one older sister were the only ones who were definite yes.

And then my dad decided that the hassle was too much. My mom then took him out to dinner alone and we called off the whole thing.

I am happy that my dad had a quiet dinner with my mom, but it is sad to know that our family, who have been so close, finally broke apart. We have spent almost every major holiday together for as long as I could remember. This is the first one where most of them didnt even make an effort to come. :(

Good first Dad's Day

My Dad’s Day (my first) started with a diaper change, feeding, French Toast breakfast, then a call from an opinion polestar that I have asked more then a dozen times “stop calling me.” So I just blew up on this one, got out a bunch of negative energy I was holding in- felt really good to just unload on someone. :)

Talked to the wife about not calling my Dad. Decided not to as I didn't want any negitive energy as I had just unloaded a whole bunch. :(

Followed by another feeding, more diapers, a jaunt to Monterey where we took some tourist pictures, another feeding or two, diaper changing (still the kid’s not mine), lunch, and home. Chilled a while, and then got to feeling like crap from to much sun and not enough water (stupid- I know better).

Fall to sleep. Late night changing and another feeding. :)

All in all- not a bad day.
