Happy GM's Day!

We aren't playing today, but I let Joe have donuts for breakfast, my omage to the belly of "He who throws the dice behind the screen." :)

In the spirit of the day, I'd also like to thank all the DMs that have run games at the ENworld Game Days that I've had the pleasure to play in.

Chicago: Treavor and Mark Clover. That is how I garnered the nickname "Stabby Mc Stab Stab" in certain circles :)

Dallas: Jaldean and Don_Adams. My first taste of Nevermore (yeah hand-crossbows of death!) and Broncosaurus Rex. I will never think be able to think of dinosaurs and the civil war without also thinking about Bernie doing a rebel yell!

Austin: SeaSong--ducts. why is it always ducts? :uhoh: Space was never so dangerous.
And I can't remember his handle, but to the gentleman tha ran the SG1 game-that rocked. That game actually got me to pick up the book and start watching the show.

While there are lots of sales going on in celebration of the day, players have lots of ways to show appreciation, from a simple "thanks" to not arguing the rules at the table tonight. Of course, some may find that more painful than picking something up for their GM. ;)

Happy GM's Day!!! Thanks to Mark Clover of Creative Mountain Games for proposing this annual event, and running some great games.

Perhaps one way to be kind to a DM is for players to realize that a lot of work goes into running a game, from preparing an adventure to figuring out how to portray NPCs. So, maybe a good way for a player to reward a DM is to step up to the DM screeen and give your DM a chance to play.

Two of my players surprised me, and actually got me a present today! I had jokingly mentioned GMs day to them when I called to see if they were right to play, and they actually went ahead and got me something.

Admittedly it was two large rubber D6s and a pair of trick D6s that always roll 7 or 11, but it was still nice :)

We celebrated a day early, as our game was on Saturday, but we got our GM a customized shirt commemorating our last campaign, a card, and a dragon-shaped cake.

I definitely like this gamer's holiday and plan to celebrate it regularly. :)
