Hard Delete my own Blog Posts?

It seems the only option for deleting your own blog posts is the "soft" delete. Why isn't there a permanent delete option for Blog posts? Sometimes I would like to delete them. Is is a safe guard agaisnt people deleting their blogs forever by acident?

The reason I ask is becuase I accidently posted something public on my blog before I was ready to make it public. I couldn't hard delete it so I soft deleted it and made it private instead.

The difference between the two is that soft-deleting effectively deletes it from view but leaves it recoverable by you, while hard-delete permanently cleanses it from the database. Only moderators have access to hard-deletes (and we only use it for spam, usually).
