Hard drive formating help needed

Set jumpers. Install drive in computer. Open Disk Manager in XP. Re-partition old drive. Format old drive. Done.

Seriously, you're making this a lot more complex than it needs to be, unless you're trying something really bizarre or fancy that I'm not catching.

My mistake; I thought you had WinMe as your current OS.

All you need to do is install as a slave, then reformat it in Windows XP. The only formatting that is more complex than that is the initial HD setup.

Yeah, it's all done now. It tried telling me that the disk was in use and couldn't be formated for some reason. I had to go into Disk Management and force it to format, which didn't cause any problems.

Seriously, the drive became available, so it's just going to be used for backup of important files in case my 300 gig ever dies on me.
