Harper Class (FR) Did I miss something?

hi,

I found so far 3 harper prestige classes, one made for the cleric/druid, one made for the wizard/sorcerer and one made for the rogue.

The curious thing is that in the book is described that most harpers are Bards and then Rangers. This is about 90% of all harpers together.

Did I miss something here or did WotC screw up here (again.....)?

Maybe they mean to say that most Harpers are Bard/Rangers, but PC Harpers can be of any class...so they give you lots of PrC's to work with.

Just a guess.

The idea behind prestige classes is that as many classes as possible should be able to qualify for them. That's why you never see "this PrC can only be taken by a 6th level ranger".

I happen to like this idea quite a bit, but sometimes I wish people didn't stick to it as ridgidly as they do. Some classes (e.g. bards) are kind of hard to design the classes for without everyone else being able to qualify just as quickly.

That said I'm amazed there aren't more ranger-oriented PrCs that don't ask for a +6 BAB with 8 ranks in Spot and Listen. They always ask for Track or Favored Enemy even when those requirements don't make sense for the PrC.

I suppose the short version of what I'm saying is: its hard to design a PrC that can be taken by rangers and bards without mandating it outright ... a possible glitch in the PrC paragdim.

The problem is that a Bard or a Ranger needs to be higher level to fullfill the requirements that they ask for the prestige classes. So a level 13 Ranger or a level 5 rogue can become a Harper.

Same goes for the Bard, level 7 Bard or a level 5 Rogue (the prerequest has to many skills that needs to be taken for a bard with an int of 10 to fullfill).

Als being able to cast 3th lvl arcane spells for a bard means level 7 but for a wizard level 5. Level 3 devine spells is level 11 ranger.

And the prerequists could be very simple for a prestige class, and so make the organization more alive.
