Huh. Never seen Great Rock'n'Roll Swindle, didn't know about that. I guess the scene in Sid and Nancy is a reproduction of it, but there wasn't anything about making a movie in it. It's just this random weird scene. How surreal was the original? In Sid and Nancy, Sid pulls out a gun and starts blowing away people in the audience. It's hysterical. I'll definitely have to pick up Swindle.

I have seen both versions (the original Sid V. version and a clip from the film with Gary Oldman). The "Sid and Nancy" version is just a re-filming of Sid's original version.

I'll say this--Gary has Sid "dead on"--it's kind of scary. But the one thing Gary could not do was the completely dead look in Sid's eyes. You look at Sid and, well, nothing is there. It's kind of creepy, but maybe he was just on drugs when he filmed it.

And "Sid and Nancy" is directed by Alan Cox, who did "Repo Man" which is one of my favorite films.

Your kidding! THAT'S who Gary Oldman is! He's going to ruin my favorite character!:( I always pictured Sirius as more along the lines of Johnny Depp in Sleepy Hollow. In serious need of a sun tan but still kinda attractive. *sigh* oh well...:(

Trust me is anyone can pull of Sirius its Gary Oldman, that roll in Fifth Element was pretty unrecognisable compared to other rolls he's been in.

Check his credits, he's played everything from Dracula to Lee Harvey Oswald in JFK.

http://uk.imdb.com/Name?Oldman,+Gary

Michael Gambon sounds like a very good selection for Dumbledore as well.

More interesting is that Alfonso Cuaron, of teen-sex romp Y Tu Mama Tambien fame, is directing so we will probably get to see Hermione, Harry and the rest getting it on even if it wasn't in the book. :D

Michael Gambon *snip* He will also be in Open Range with Kevin Costner and Robert Duvall this year.

I saw the preview when I took Beth to go see LXG the other day. MY mind created it's own voiceover.

"Kevin Costner, in the same western crapfest he keeps directing/starring in over and over and over and over and over again. That's right, Kevin Costner as: Kevin Costner trying to play a cowboy in 'Open Range', coming soon to a toilet near you."

Then of course she got mad when I told her that I didn't pay attention at all during the preview; she thinks it looks good.

I need to get out more.:( I can't think of another movie that I have seen with Gary Oldman in it besides the Fifth Element.

Rosencrantz And Guildenstern Are Dead

Heya:

I'm sure it's listed on that link, but he played the "dumb" one (I forgot which was which) opposite Tim Roth in Rosencrantz And Guildenstern Are Dead. A really fun movie if you're at all familiar with Hamlet. And even if not.

Take care,
Dreeble

Did you watch Y Tu Mama Tambien? Teen sex romp is the smallest part of it. explict sure, but it's a movie about politics more than anything else.
