I remember reading a feat somewhere that said you could cast a personal spell on an ally, but I can't find it now to save my life. Has anybody else seen such a feat?

well on page 50 of the PHB, a wizard or sorceror can cast a personal spell on a familiar. if you equate a familiar as an ally.

It was not for a familiar..it was for another party member....

It wasn't a metamagic feat, but a Metapsionic feat.. ..you can find it in the Mind's Eye, in the same page of the Sangehirn (Spelling?).. ..I suppose you can homebrew a Metamagic feat that follows the same line..
