Has anyone ever used the 3D Map Folio?

Hi Everyone,

I'm not sure if this is in the wrong forum, so feel free to move this thread if it is. My question to anyone who has ever used products such as 3D Map Folio or WorldWorks is:

What type of cardstock is recommended for making these models? I want them to be somewhat durable (although I realize they are only paper), but I also don't want the stock to be so thick that it is difficult to make them. Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks in advance!

I use 110 lb. cardsrock for Worldworks stuff. It's heavy enough to be pretty durable, but light enough to work with easily. It's also the heaviest stock carried by Staples and Office Depot. If I could get 120 or 130 easily, I'd probably go to that, but 110 works just fine. Pick up a 12" rotary trimmer while you are at it (stocked with the paper cutters), it makes cutting the pieces out so much easier (and you can get a scoring blade to help with the score lines too).

i downloaded the plans from the WotC site awhile ago. and just made them out of paper and tape.

they work well enough.

i purchased the 3D folio, but it is still in the shrinkwrap.

Hmmm, you may want to go take a look around the World Works Forums... http://www.worldworksgames.com/forum/index.php

For cardstock many people recommend 110# card. I use a combination on some items, heavier cardstock for items that don't need a lot of folding, and lighter card for pieces that are folded and then refolded. (The backs for Arena Works in the main.)
