Has anyone run West Marches style Apocalypse World?

I feel like this game works very well for West Marches, especially for the Hard Holder and the vehicle rules for travel.

Has anyone run a totally not Mad Max, Apocalypse World as a West Marches campaign?

How did it go?

Any lessons learned you can impart?

The main issue with Apocalypse World 2.0 is that bountiful complications and relations can prevent you from exploring. You get a different set of players, your continuity goes the way of dodo, because each character brings their own little set of issues.

In my opinion, your characters should not have too many ties to the local setting, should be a part of the same organization (so that replacing a PC can be done plausibly on the fly.

IMHO, either drop/replace relations, and keep in-town complications to a minimum.

Otherwise, consider using Godless (Godless | Shadow of the Demon Lord | Role Playing Game), which is the setting you're probably looking for, built upon Shadow of the Demon Lord engine.

I can see some friction between playing to find out with one group and needing that to stand as established for all the others. I mean I'm sure it can be done, but you'd have to navigate that somehow.
