Has anyone updated Mystara for 3.0 or 3.5?

With all the updates to old campaign worlds (Greyhawk, FR, Dragonlance, etc.) and the creation of new campaign worlds (Ghostwalk, Eberron) etc., any chance of Mystara (one of the very first DND worlds) to be updated for 3.0 (or 3.5).

Has it already been done by some fan sites?

J. Holmes tried to update the original world. it was the 2edD&D. he did a rewrite and repackaged it a little later as 3edD&D.

i guess you could say Moldvay was involved in 3.5edD&D, but most call that 4edD&D.

:D

The big question is: which Mystara are you wanting converted?

Many people see a big difference between the original Gazeteers and the 2e boxed sets. Did you want Karameikos, Glantri, the entire continent, the Hollow World, Savage Coast/Red Steel, etc?

I think in certain cases, conversion isn't really necessary. For instance, I've got the Karameikos 2e boxed set, and other than an adventure and some NPCs, the setting is pure fluff. No real conversion necessary.

OTOH, Red Steel has lots of rules that won't easily convert. There was a small conversion in a recent Dragon mag, but it wasn't comprehensive.

I guess I'm thinking more along the lines of the Gazeteers, Hollow World, etc.

However, Red Steel would be interesting as well.

I just remember that I thought the Gazeteers were cool by introducing new rules for the classes, races, etc., in each one. I've wondered how the rules from the Gazeteers (and Red Steel) would be updated for 3.5.

I always thought that the world of Mystara was a very setting.

I don't know if I remember correctly, but did Mystara give birth to the Greyhawk setting?

There is a Red Steel conversion in the latest issue (315) of Dragon magazine. I wrote the conversion. It covers the Red Curse, legacies, red steel, cinnabryl, vermeil, and has a 3.5e version of the Tortle race.

There are also other Mystaran campaign articles in issue 315. Cynidicea, Hollow World, and more, if I recall correctly. Not too much on the "Known World" regions though.

Also, Greyhawk was around before Mystara. Mystara arose sort of "organically" from products that TSR had released.

You probably found it by now but the official mystara 3e page is here:
http://mystara3e.starflung.com/home.html

It's run by the same people who run the Vaults of Pandius

However, the conversion of Mystara is far from complete, unfortuantely. The setting just doesn't seem to have the dedicated fan base that others do.

Another useful site is the Mystara 3e discussion group, which has a lot of useful files in it's file section:
