I definitely agree with most of those who have posted: D&D cannot be part of the movie title. Unfortunately, the D&D name/brand still has a lot of stigma associated with it even in a world where nerds and geeks will soon take over. The two movies, of course, didn't help either.
What I would do is use the FR and other brands. FR would be perfect, IMO. There are a lot of novels to draw upon although, as my earlier post suggests I still think The Crystal Shard would be a perfect first movie.
Aside from a serious director as a number of others have mentioned, a serious producer is also vital. I also hope that R A Salvatore gets his royalties or whatever but no writing duties.
So, come on Hasbro, let's see what you can do with these properties that you most likely grossly overpaid for!
