Hasbro victim of cyberattack, some websites down but not D&D Beyond

The cyberattack occurred on March 28th.

Hasbro has disclosed that it was the victim of a cyberattack this week, forcing them to shut down some of its systems. Hasbro submitted a disclosure to the US Securities and Exchange Commission today that it detected an intrusion on March 28th. Hasbro took down several of systems as a response, including parts of Hasbro's website. TechCrunch reached out to Hasbro for more details about the attack, and received a response that Hasbro had "taken swift action to protect our systems and data" but declined to give specifics on the attack. Per TechCrunch, it could take several weeks for the incident to be resolved and Hasbro is unsure whether any data was stolen. An investigation is ongoing.

A quick review of Dungeons & Dragons' two key websites - D&D Beyond and the new D&D homepage - indicates that there have been no outages. From our (admittedly brief) perusal, the downed systems appear to be related to Hasbro proper and not its Wizards of the Coast subsidiary. However, users of any Hasbro website should be cognizant of the cyberattack as the full breadth of what information (if any) was compromised has yet to be seen.

Bro or Bruh? Because, let me tell you--as a high school teacher with a middle school kid--there's a difference.

Anyway, went to change my Pulse password out of an abundance of caution, and the site popped up a "Password Expired" prompt, so it looks like they're at least requiring that respose from users.

Their website just seems disjointed and convoluted. I come here for my RPG news and updates. On the odd occasion I go on wizards its not a user friendly or easily navigated website. Just my opinion. Most of the time @Morrus and EN World is my day to day go to for RPG news.

Well, to be fair WotC is not an RPG news outlet.

Correct. Do they even have a news section on their website currently? Seems like with their new road map they may in the near future if they don't already. They had a great website from 2000-2008, maybe 2010. It was frequently updated with web enhanced products. I feel like they had more engagement with their customer base then than they do now.

Agreed. Their new D&D website is a bit incoherent and was built by some devs are are asset-happy. Back in the 3.5 era, the D&D website was unmatched. And I say that as someone who wasn't really even all that crazy about D&D 3.5.
