Taargash, rarely without some form of surveillance, had been generally looking around as the group travelled. It wasn't as if he expected anything, but he knew that adventurers, much like themselves, were prime targets for organized bandit groups, which was something that he had encountered in the past. As they walked through the carved-through hills, he couldn't help but redouble his observations. Such a place was an excellent setup for an ambush.
Nothing happened, however, and the band continued, much to Tar's relief. After a brief stop, the group continued, but things quickly became different. One of them noted smoke off to the left, and as the majority turned to face it, he turned to examine the other directions. Whether or not the fire was intentional, when he was back with the gnolls, Tar had lit many a fire to draw attention away from a particular side, which was then attacked. And true he was, as he saw a creature atop the hill, bow drawn as if to fire. "Look to the hills," he called out as he drew his own longbow in response.
