The First Warrior:
In the beginning, the world was a barren desert under a harsh, yellow sun. Upon it lived thousands upon thousands of demons, who feasted upon one another.
And so it was that Caleb, the great warrior, fell from the sky onto the earth. Tired of the taste of their own flesh, the demons turned upon him. But the rays of the sun gave Caleb the strength of a hundred men and he defeated the demons. He took the skin, bone, and sinew of the greatest of the demon warriors, and crafted a golden shield. As long as he carried the golden shield, no harm would come to him.
Then the Demon King appeared. Once, the Demon King was a great warrior. But he had eaten many demons, and grown fat and lax. But he was full of cunning and guile, and he knew much magic. Caleb and the Demon King began to fight. In their battle, they gouged out great valleys, and kicked up tall mountains. From Caleb’s sweat, the Rivers and oceans were formed. From the sweat of the demon king came the swamps and marshes. When a day had passed, Caleb finally drew blood.
The Demon King roared in pain and anger. “I am the Lux Latoris, the master of the light,” He shouted, “With my sorcery, I control the very sun.” The Demon King then cast a great spell, and the sun sank below the horizon.
Without the strength-giving rays of the sun, Caleb was helpless before the might of the Demon King. But as the sun sank, the blood of the demon king began to move. From the blood and the darkness, the great dragon Obsidian was formed. Caleb knew that just as he was powerless without the sun, Obsidian was nothing without shadow. So he forged a bargain with Obsidian. They would fight the demon king together, and when he was slain, they would share their rule.
And so they fought the Demon King. That first night, and seven nights thereafter, the Dragon Obsidian battled while Caleb rested and recovered. And for seven days, Caleb fought while the dragon licked his wounds. And on the dawn of the final day, Caleb laid low the demon king with a single mighty blow.
Caleb and Obsidian cast the King into the deep pits of the earth. Each night, after the sun sank below the horizon, he would harvest its light and make copper and gold to fill the earth.
And Caleb and Obsidian became the rulers of the world. Obsidian made a lair in the highest mountain peaks, and filled it with treasures. Caleb crafted a great palace of ice and crystal, full of grand and empty halls.
More to come, probably.
