Have you bought a second copy of a book for table use?

I do it from time to time. For some games, like 3.0, it was because they had the PHB, DMG & MMI packaged together at a discount. I figured I'd need the spare books when my originals wore out. (Also my original PHB was the 1st printing you got at GenCon and I wanted to see the updates).

It worked out well since I tend to lose/gain a player every year or so and I hand them the spare copy while they get up to speed.
