Having trouble motivating myself

Well, it's just like the title says. I'm having trouble motivating myself to work on my game. I have plenty of plotlines in mind that just need to be developed. No, the problem is that I have trouble keeping my mind on my current game. I keep thinking about ideas for other campaigns. I've been calling it burnout, but I don't think that's exactly it. If its burnout at all, then its burnout with the current game.

I suppose some might say I should just end my current game, but my players are still having fun.

Has anyone else had this problem? What did you do about it?

The only way I know of to defeat burnout is to do it the hard way: force yourself.

Set a specific time, and make yourself sit down at that time and grind out ideas. Set a goal for yourself - write a full page or two, and don't let yourself leave until you do. Ennui is the enemy of accomplishment, so you have to have something done to begin to defeat it. Eventually, doing this will make your creative juices begin to flow again.

Are you still having fun, burnout notwithstanding?

If not, I don't think pushing it is going to help. If you are still enjoying the game, I agree with Alzrius: pick something to work on, and work on it until it's done.

It's hard to give more specific advice without more details (hint, hint). ;)

Yeah, man, I'm just like having that problem in my whole life. I dunno, I just like drinking a lot and doing lots of drugs. Haven't played that much DnD in a while. Got tired of the game group. Too many stupid dweebs. I dunno.
