hate to say this but I have forgotten hawk the slayer
is than the one with the magic hawk which flying over head drops a tail feather and that changes into a quiver of arrows or am I thinking of another bad tv movie.
never mind that was archer the heartbow. which made in some of my friend campaign

It was The Archer: Fugitive from the Empire.

IMHO, the should have gotten the guy who did H:TS to do the D&D movie.

When I was a kid, yes, this was the D&D movie (along with the Sword & the Sorcerer)

Ahh, I loved Hawk The Slayer. The Mindsword was definitely a cool blade. The bad acting, non-existant budget, poor special effects and hammy plot has made it a classic.

I bought the VHS tape and it broke after 3 plays...I fixed it, but I haven't watched it since. I'll have to hunt down the DVD.

The Archer: Fugitive from the Empire is another classic in the same vein. The bow that was spoken of was a Heart Bow. Her name was Elb (and I have ruthlessly stolen the concept and used it in campaigns a couple of times and even had a specific PrC for it recently). For thoses of you who don't know, Richard Moll of Night Court fame was the big brute who had the boat and ran away. I have this on VHS too, need to see if I can find it on DVD.

As far as I'm concerned, Hawk the Slayer still IS the definitive D&D movie. It's much more like watching a table-top RPG come to life than that abyssmal other movie. It has a strange collection of companions and includes weird and pointless banter between them. Totally like a D&D session.
