Hayden Christiansen being added to Return of the Jedi DVD

At the risk of sounding like following the masses I'm going to say that this looks bogus.
Well like you guys with your "Title Scoops" I obviously can't dispute that since all we really have are our gut feelings with these things until they're officially announced or we actually get to watch the new DVD's.

But since Steve Sansweet has more or less indicated that there *will* be changes, what changes do you think George will be making? Changing the ghosts has to rank up there as one of the most likely.

Hopefully they'll more be in the way of updated special effects. Imagine a state of the art detonation of the Executor Super Star Destroyer colliding with the second Death Star. Or in Star Wars when the Falcon is being chased by the Star Destroyer and Han says, "Don't worry I know a few maneuvers, we'll lose 'em," and then the Falcon actually pulls some sweet maneuvers by banking and rolling.

Some pick up shots to make the Endor battle more intense would be insanely cool, but I can't really see George and company heading back out to the Redwood Forest to do it.

Something else that I just realized that "makes sense" dramatically about having the Anakin ghost be Hayden Christiansen. Perhaps the ghosts appear as the Jedi's "residual self images" a la the The Matrix.

When you think about it, Anakin will most likely have *never* seen himself as a person older than 22 years old. In Episode III he gets fried, wears the suit for 20 years, then doesn't exactly have the luxury of looking into a mirror when the mask is finally taken off (not that he would have wanted to.) He sure didn't seem to have any mirrors in the one scene the helmet is lowering onto his head in ESB. So in his own mind, Vader would have always existed as his youthful ideal. Hmm, more and more I'm actually hoping that this will be a real change.

Oh, don't get me wrong - this certainly warrants discussion. It's part of the fun! :)

Honestly, I haven't thought too much about what I'd like changedor updated. You already mentioned the first thing that popped into my mind: any of the space/starfighter scenes. Those are easy to manipulate and rarely look out of place. The SE Death Star attack (A New Hope) blew me away. Other than the space stuff I'd have to go back and scour for changes.

Okay, the hologram of the Emporer with Ian McDiarmid in Empire would be an obvious change. I'll have to mediate on this... :p

Unless the twins are already born at the beginning of Ep. III (which would clash with that supposed spoiler storyline posted here), or it takes place over a long chunk of time, Vader can't have aged more than like 25 years off-camera between Episode III and Episode VI. I guess that suit adds a lot of hard living to a body.

Jedi is four years after the Battle of Yavin, Ep3 is 19-20 before it, that puts Anakin in his mid forties when he dies.

Logic failure there. Vader was last "Good" when he destroys the Emperor. The whole point of having him with Yoda and Obi Wan is to show that this act redeemed him.

Not the the filmmakers are tied to logic, of course. But I don't see any good reason why Anakin should get rewound a couple of decades when the other two aren't...

Problem with the way it ended up in the movie is that ghost Anakin doesn't look way he did when he killed Palpatine and died, in fact Anakin never looked the way in life as he did as a ghost. I don't see him looking young as any more of a stretch.

I always felt that the casting choice for old Anakin was terrible.

If they excised that egg-head loser from appearing in Darth Vader's armor, I wouldn't put up any protests.

Meh. If its real, it doesn't bother me. Like Kai Lord said, residual self image and all that. Works for me. *shrug*

Does anyone remember that limited edition Anakin Skywalker action figure from Kenner?

It was a fig of Sebastian Shaw in his "good" jedi garb. Came out around the end of the Kenner SW action fig craze, maybe 1984.

If any of you have that figure still in its original packaging, prepare to get happy.
