He-Man d20?

First Post
Hey, folks!

Struck by 1980s nostalgia, I thought that doing a He-Man and the Masters of the Universe game using the main characters as PC pre-gens might be silly fun. Has anybody out there done any conversions for d20 rules, ideally D&D?

I was torn between posting in D&D or General, but I suppose that some enterprising soul might have used d20 Modern or M&M or some other d20/OGL system for conversion. Bring them all on! Share the love!

Thanks in advance!

Probably the wrong forum for this..

I'd assume we'd work with the new incarnation of the cartoon, where people actually fight each other?

He-Man/Grayskull, Skeletor, King Hiss, Zodak, and the Sorceress would be the epic characters, with Evilyn (or is it actually spelled Evil-Lyn?) and Man-at-Arms coming close, most of the others falling a bit behind there, and then Prince Adam falling well below that :D

Edit: Add Mossman to the Epic group; he's like the god of nature or something absurd in the new version

That'd be a cool idea :) but you would indeed need to mix up traditional D&D with advanced technology...

(is there a site on general (ie non-RPG) He-Man info?)

For a one shot or mini game you would have to have the rest of the hero's rescue He-Man or Adam. I mean who ever gets to play He-man will just abuse the heck out of it. But this could be very cool. I have no clue how to stat this or what system to use. Maybe a modified standard re-vamped spell lists and such or maybe not, I don't know evil-lynn and Skele seem to toss some powerfull spells out now and then.

Maybe you could base the plot on the movie, very important to include the Chicken resteraunt!! Well now I am rambling.

The Seraph of Earth and Stone

Maybe look into using Mutants and Masterminds for it. It's built to model comic books and as such it's pretty hard to get people dead:)

Bu it is flexible enough that it could asily stat out most any Masters of the Universe characters I can think of.

In a way, we sort of already have He Man d20.

IIRC, in the early 80's a toymaker was designing a line of toys based on the Conan stories by REH. Then the company got a whiff of what kind of stories they were and decided that Conan was innappropriate for children, so the renamed the line He-Man.

So HeMan is really Conan done for little kids

Hey, everybody! Thanks for the feedback. With a bit of Googling, I found some good resources to get started in addition to the suggestions posted here. In case others are interested:

I have to think about it some more, but I am inclined to agree with Teflon Billy- M&M might be a better system than D&D for this purpose, especially with the advanced technology in Eternia. Anyway... I will post whatever I come up with later! Thanks again-

I posted a possible Eternian-inspired campaign a few months back... It went along the lines of:

Characters are "living gods". Using standard D&D rules, average Joe on the street has stats ranging as 1d6+6, where as the major players (the "Masters" and the villains) were rolled for as normal (average 12).

The setting is a collection of demi-planes; Essentially, the PC's "home plane" is the bridge between the Planes and the physical world, with it being connected to a multitude of other planes that have fallen to evil. The PCs literally are the "last line of defense" between prosperity for the mortal realms and the final domination of evil; if the "Eternia" plane falls, the cosmos will be consumed by darkness.

While playing a "He-Man d20 game" doesn't appeal very much to me (I have a 6 year old that watches the new series regularly, it's still a munchkin-fest with villains that spend more time acting like sniveling fools than paragons of evil), something along the above parameters could make for an interesting game.
