Sounds like a Larry Niven novel. It also sounds out of reach with current technology. We can't even graft someone's own broken spinal column back together, much less attach it to someone else's

Actually, there is a Robert Heinlein novel about a brain transplant. It's called "I Will Fear No Evil."

I remember that one. An old guy transplanted into a young woman's body. He had a heckava time adjusting as I recall.
