Sounds like a Larry Niven novel. It also sounds out of reach with current technology. We can't even graft someone's own broken spinal column back together, much less attach it to someone else's

Actually, there is a Robert Heinlein novel about a brain transplant. It's called "I Will Fear No Evil."
 


Silly. They can't transplant a hand or a leg; why on earth would anyone think they could do it with something as complex as a head?
 

some crazy Italian doc wants to do this to a Russian. *shrug* you can transplant organs, blood and skin/hair.
