Healing Circle Question

Shouldn't Healing Circle (PHB) grant a Will save instead of a Fortitude save, like all other Con(Healing) spells? Perhaps I missed some errata...
If not, would undead have problems with this spell, like failing their save automatically?

No, if they have to make a Fortitude Save (against most these effects, they are considered immune and are automatically unaffected), they make one and add their Charisma Bonus instead of Constitution Bonus.

Anyway, I agree that, from a point of consistency, it should be the same type of save.

That's true for certain effects - like Concentration checks - but not for Fortitude saves.

Example - a Ghoul has a Cha of 16, and a total Fort save of +0.

Since they have no Constitution score, they apply no modifier to their base Fort save.

Undead automatically take half damage for Healing Circle if you beat their SR. They are immune to Fort saves unless the effect affects objects, which this spell does not you, since it is Fort 1/2 then the undead take 1/2 damage, no save only SR.

Immune does not mean "automatically make the save", immune means "not affected by it".

In the case of Healing Circle, undead would normally be immune to any effect from the spell, except that the spell description specifically states that it damages undead, in spite of the fact that it has a fort save.

Thus, the intent seems to be that undead are affected by the spell normally, despite their normal immunity to fort saves.

Really, the spell should have a Will save like every other healing spell, or it should include the (Object) descriptor in the save.

I'm almost positive that issue will be adressed in 3.5e: they stated somewhere that they're going to make a mass version of every cure spell, so the circle will probably be mass cure light wounds now - a mass version of clw with the same kind of safe as clw. You can say what you want: Hasbro does adapt to the mass market. ;)
