Healing surges - more than one at a time? While unconscious?

I was reading KotS last night and wondered if you could take more than one healing surge on your turn. There are at least two ways this might be possible as far as I can tell:

1. Use an action point. After surging as a regular standard action, expend an action point to get a second standard action. Use this extra standard action on a second healing surge.

2. As a dwarf. As a racial ability, it seems that dwarves get to do healing surges as a minor action. You can take three minor actions in a round if you do nothing else. So a dwarf can surge three times in a round.

Am I missing something or are both the above possible? If you're a dwarf, can you combine method 1 and method 2 to get four healing surges in a round, taking you up to max hit points?

Also, can you heal surge while unconscious? I suspect not but I'd like to be sure.

No, during combat you can only use healing surges through Second Wind (once per encounter,s tandard action for all races except dwarf for whom it's a minor) or through abilities like Healing Word, Inspiring Word, etc...

So in effect you can only use your healing surges once per turn, because you're limited to 1 per encounter anyway. Only extra healing abilities or potions and such allow you to use more than 1 surge per encounter, not an action point...

I thought you cuold only take a second wind action once per encounter (barring exceptions such as healing spells/powers, etc.)

edit: ummm, like everyone else said. Damn my slow typing!

NOTE: People are still confusing Healing Surge with Second Wind!

You can be the recipient of many Healing Surges per encounter(*), but you only have one Second Wind per encounter.

(*) For example, healers can make you use a Healing Surge.

Several of the messages above should have the words "Healing Surge" replaced with the words "Second Wind".
