Heat Death, and the sound of the wind

This is pretty random, so I apologise in advance:

[Also, I don't really know how I get from 'whistling aircon' to 'heat death of the universe', yet still I do.]

Can anyone point me to a free, downloadable, legal source of sound effects?

Specifically, I was just lying in the dim (remember, darkness creates "shadowy illumination") listening to my aircon through closed vents, and I realised I'll be running a few sessions at the very end of existence, with my PCs wandering through a massive, crumbling and almost abandoned metropolis.

Perpetual twighlight of course.

It is the end of the universe, and the Illithid empire is turning to dust as the universe winds down. After hours of wandering, the first variation in light is spotted, the source a massive (20' diameter) Beholder, staked on and in a crystal spar. The effort is obvious as it starts to speak...

And I want that faint, constant sound of the wind...

If you want to add sound-effects into an RPG, I would use Syrinscape; its free and totally excellent and allows you to create your own soundscapes where you can loop up to two continous soundfiles whilst also automatically adding in loads of other noises randomly. I have created a whole ton of stuff for my games this way; in fact I have a soundscape for each location in the game.

You can find it here Welcome to Syrinscape | Syrinscape

You can also find a bunch of free sound files and soundscapes to import into Syrinscape or just loop through your-favourite-soundplayer here
freeSFX.co.uk - Download free sound effects

If you can't be bothered to set anything up or download stuff then you can also just use ambient noise generators. This one works only if you are connected to the web but will do simple things like create rain, thunder, wolf howls and a few other things, though sadly wind ain't one of 'em yet.
