Hellboy on Cartoon Network

Nuclear Platypus

First Post
Next Saturday, Oct 28th at 730 Central, Cartoon Network will air a Hellboy cartoon during their Toonami block.

I've read somewhere that it might even be a series but at least 2 movies released directly to video.

 Is this a movie or a new animated series?

That I've not been able to verify. However there's entries on both animated movies on IMDB and it looks like the live action cast is reunited - Ron Perlman as Hellboy, Selma Blair as Liz, John Hurt as Professor Broom and Doug Jones as Abe Sapien (David Hyde Pierce was uncredited).

The second movie is Blood and Iron. I'm guessing (but more hoping) that if these are successful, there'll be a series in the works.

The artwork is reminiscent of Justice League and Teen Titans. I would have liked it if they could have kept more to Mignola's style like SciFi did with Amazing Screw-On Head, but I suppose that's part of what makes his style inimitable.

Still, I'm looking forward to it, and I'm sure my SO will also.

In the extended advertisment during the "Ultimate Avengers 2" movie last week, the Hellboy movie looks like it's full of Japanese demons.

I saw what looked to be oni and those demon kimono-clad women with the extremely long necks. HB was also wielding a katana. :D
