Hellboy on Cartoon Network

So in other words this is much like comparing say the Batman movies to the comics along side say Batman: The Animated Series. There's some connections but not like direct ones.

Can't wait to see Blood and Iron though.

Clone Wars was a sequel to Episode 2 and a prequel to episode 3. So you never know this could happen with other movies as well.
I was talking of the Hellboy comics/movie/cartoon, specifically.

This "separation of media" is the reason you won't see, for instance, a comic book adaptation of the movie. Mike Mignola himself said that.

Klaus,

This is true. It's also why if you read the Spawn comic and then watched say the TV show, it's similiar but different. Too bad Todd hasn't found a buyer he likes...or something.

Heh.

If trees are still dying so Spawn comics can see print, then they're still not improved enough. Spawn had ONE good issue,k and it was the one written by Dave Simm where Spawn met Cerebus.

Villano, no unless it some how magically pops up again on Toonami's schedule...some how.

And this was a SWEET movie. True it's not of Mike's style but it has the feeling of Mike and the live action movie. Certainly Ron Pearlman, Selma Blair and Doug Jones were awesome. The others of the cast, Peri Gelpin (as Agent/Professer Kate Corrigan) and who ever did Russell Thorne make appearances also. This movie had TONS of references to Japanese mythology along with incorporating the usual Hellboy elements too.

I hope the ratings were high AND the DVDs sell out. I honestly want to see this made into a series along with Spawn too.

I concur with your opinion, although I can't make a judgement about Mike Mignola's style since I've never read one of his comics. But I was very pleased with this animated movie. I especially liked all the references to Japanese mythology. I whipped out my copy of Oriental Adventures and started looking up all the monsters. :D

I don't think I want it to be made into a series, though. Turning anything into a series tends to drain it of a lot of its originality after a while. I'll just be happy if they do a few more movies, animated or live-action.

Well -hopefully- Cartoon Network will repeat it again. Hellboy on All Hallow's Eve would be a fairly good matchup. Since there's a second one to be aired, they might show a mini marathon. They did something similar with Clone Wars but Justice League and Samurai Jack had episodes that were sat on.
