Those are sawed off horns. He's Hellboy for a reason.

In the dying days of WWII the Nazi forces put several dooms day plans into action. One of these involved several occult experts and a certain mad monk named Rasputin. A team of army rangers and a few of the allies paranormal experts were dispatched ot some ruins where strange readings were bing emitted from. Suddenly in a burst a flame a child appeared. Red skin, tail, sawed off horns and a hand made of a strange unknown metal. He was dubbed "Hellboy" by one of the scientists, and the name stuck. Hellboy became the ward of the United States. He was trained and now decades later he's the top paranormal investigator. He fights the good fight against the weird stuff and will one day learn the role he was intended in the end of the world.

A movie is being made based on the kickin' Hellboy comics and this is the first pic of Ron Perlman as the big red badass. From what I hear the movie is to be based mainly on the Right Hand of Doom.

P.S. Selma Blair plays the pyrokinetic girl and she is yummy.

I read an interview with director Guillermo Del Toro (mimic, Blade II) and he said a couple of nice things:

- The plot is basically "Seed of Destruction", the first Hellboy series, except that it focuses more on Hellboy's relationship with Prof. Broom (his adoptive father, played by John Hurt) and offers an explanation to the Right Hand of Doom (the hand, not the series).

- Practically the only red things in the movie are Hellboy and the Nazi flags.

My cousins husband Simeon did the storyboards for Hellboy. They even flew him out to Prague!
