I did not link to reviews.
Comparison chart, then.

Upon closer inspection, however, I noticed that each company gave all the information for their sections. That explains the phraseology.

I wondered what you were posting about. I looked all over for links on that page to reviews and couldn't find a thing. That chart was done for an online convention a few months back. A lot of the companies had demo versions of their Virtaul Game Tables available for that weekend and many were running demo games using them. Lots of fun. :)

Nostros, you might try searching around and seeing if there is a local forum or network for players and just asking if you can join a game to see what it is like. Or you can try posting in the Gamers seeking Gamers forum and see if there is anyone in your area that is willing to have a new player join game. Dont go in expecting the PC you have in mind to fit however, and actually if you really like that idea you might want to save him until you are a little more familiar with play so as to have a more enjoyable experiance.

Don't do it! They both, um, SUCK. I've seen the Everquest game, and it doesn't have a whole lot going for it. My brother played the warcraft one, and I heard nothing but bad things.

You're safer with D&D. Just don't play a mage as your first character (blech!)

I have experiance with the new World of Warcraft RPG (as opposed to the Warcraft RPG that required the PHB) and I don't think it sucks, it just does not and is not intended to emulate the online game. It is simply set in that world and has somewhat similar classes. Otherwise its just a form of DnD with its own PHB, much like Arcana Evolved. I think people are disappointed because they think it will be a different experiance than what it is.

If starting at 1st level a Sorcerer is a fine choice for a magic user for your first PC if you want to play one. Its pretty easy to play, just stay out of melee.

Now, the problem is that we are basically the only two people we know who'd be interested in doing this locally, thanks to living in the middle of nowhere in Scotland.

Whereabouts in Scotland?

You might want to PM me... or not.

Aberdeen, Delericho. Well, north of.

Strangely enough, I also pondered on a Sorcerer, however my little curse of playing against stereotypes occurred... a Half-Orc Sorcerer. Huzzah!

:P

Heh, Falkirk is a-ways off, Del. It's not that there isn't PnP games within my area, I know of at least one shop and one student body which run games, but the problem is we live in the country which makes it hard to attend. Once I live in Aberdeen, I'm sure that I'll attend at least one of them.

I had thought about Living Enworld, and I think I might just have a bash.
