D&D 4E HELP! Attacking with a Weapon... Where in the 4e PH is detailed info available?

Other than the basic info on Attack Rolls (p26, PH), where else in the PH or DMG is there info on simple attacks with a weapon that do not involve invoking a power?

Is there such a section? Is it presumed knowledge that a player carries over from an earlier edition? Or does a character making an attack with his weapon always have to invoke a power to use the weapon (in other words, your PC just can't grab his sword and swing. He needs to use a power to attack)?

THANK YOU! I had been searching the book/index but never thought to look for Basic Attack (thinking all my answers should have been under Attack in the Index).

Basic attacks are technically powers also, so you still are using a power. However you are usually better off using one of your class powers then a basic attack.
