The haunted house will also be a good place to teach the PC's that not all encounters can be won.
You could place a powerful spirit wich can do little killing damage, but is nigh impossible to destroy. It is however bound to a room, or the fountain or somesuch, so it cannot follow the PC's if they retreat.
The armours will naturally be animated....
Vermin, maybe some dire rats will have holed up somewhere...
Some RP encounters, a lost spirit who wants to be laid to rest. The PC's need to perform certain tasks to accomplish this...
