Help! (gasp) drowning in D&D options... (urk) so many... can't focus... (cough)

I never uderstood people who said there was too much. I have 100's of books and I use them. Not every week, but just this last session I went through a dozen books and strung together ideas from them. It's great fun, and the players love knowing that anything is possible for them.

Well, I know I won't use 75% of what I have. Not even because I don't like it. Just because This would require me to start 10 new campaigns as a DM, 37 as a player, and game 24/7 for a year or two.

I heard that.

I must have more options, more, more, more...

It's not about using all of it, it's about having the option to use any of it. Sure, I may just grab a feat or two from a 200 page book, but if those feats are the perfect feats for the character it's worth it. For a module I may take the basic premise and redifine the rest, but as long as the premise fits I'm happy. I use the books as a starting point to define my creativity. I get ideas by reading and rereading gaming books, and then the ideas get filed in the back of my mind for later use. I don't care if they get used, I like that these options are ready to go at a moments notice.

Oh, I don't regret having them. But I've come to a point where I don't need more.

Of course, I still plan to eventually get the mini-handbook. And Underdark, Draconomicon, and the print Complete Book of Eldritch Might. :sigh:
