Help, help, help, I need an adventure in two days!

I am going to run Kambranax's machinations from Dungeon magazine as the next part in an ongoing story arc, but the characters are currently level 7. I would like to add a shortish adventure in there to bump them up a level. I only have access to dungeon magazines from when they converted to 3E, and no published modules.

The probable sequence of events is that they will be dropped in an abandoned village by the airship they are borrowing. The village is in the middle of a swamp, and about two days travel away from the starting point of kambranaxs machinations.

So, can anyone suggest an adventure either from dungeon or free from the web that might fit this?

A half fiend Lizardman adept or wizard is trying to open a portal into the Abyss to bring across his father, a powerful tanarri. To do so, he and his tribe are sacrificing the villagers.
 

I would just use a series of "random" encounters illustrating their travels from point A to point B. Brainstorm a couple of animal encounters such as Dire Crocodiles, Dinosaurs, etc. Have them encounter some Lizardmen who have a minor problem and need help. Things like that should fill a session and provide Experience.
 

You might want to try running the mini-adventure before you drop the PCs off at wherever. Arial combat, raids by evil rangers on gryphans, vortexes onto the elemental plain of air, being broadsided by a Gith astral carrack, etc.
 

Hmmm, the village has been abandoned too long for there to be villagers left, but a half-machine (matching into kambranax nicely), half-fiend lizardman adept that kidnaps the characters to sacrifice should just about do the trick. I haven't run an escape adventure in this campaign yet.
