Help, it's a d20 from a far away land!

When did this die first appear? Sounds like it was a while back- that might be a clue as to its origin.

Perhaps it was rocketed as a baby from its doomed home planet, and under our yellow sun it is growing to always roll high?

It must have come into my hands in high school, in the late 90s. Maybe as late as early 1999. Said DM still used most of the dice he'd gotten in game sets from the 70s and early 80s. It may very well be from a boxed set game.

WEll, I'm getting the second edition book this week or next, so I guess I'll find out for myself.....

I'm waiting on the second book of the core rules for EQ2. The problem with the EQ2 PHB is it doesn't include the spellcasting classes or the spells themselves.

So, I'm waiting until I can get both at once - from one of the authors at GenCon.

Jar Jar is a national hero...treat him with respect..... :p

He's a witch! Can we burn him?

You weren't at a con I was at where, during the charity auction, it got to a bid war of "to burn or not to burn" a Jar Jar soap dispenser. The "to burn" people won, much to the grief of the lone Jar Jar fan in the crowd. So we tried to burn the thing... even with 100 proof alcohol. It only got a bit scorched across the face but that was it.

A normal size red d20 with white numbering in a times-like font, and with "EQ" where the 20 would be. Anyone have any ideas about where/what/when it's from?

It's an Everquest promo die that White Wolf was giving away at GenCon '03 when the EQ RPG was released (they may have given them out elsewhere as well). That's where I got mine, it matches all the descriptions you have given, including:

Also, it has a . instead of _ on the 9 and 6.

Edit: the numbers are not sequentially ordered, but not 21-x for the opposite side, save for EQ as 20 and 11.

number: opposite
EQ:1
19:4
18:8
17:3
16:4
15:9
14:6
13:7
12:2
11:10

I'm looking at mine right now, and if it's the same die, and I suspect that it is, there's no way you could have gotten it that long ago.

If that is the case, then the die I think it is must be in a dusty corner somewhere.

/me gets on biohazard gear and begins planning a closet crawl :)
