HELP! Looking for a great published adventure

I'm running it this weekend as a one shot (as it's meant to be). I can't give out any details here but if you PM me, I can provide some of the reasons it will be very, very interesting to see how my players do.

Ooh, I would love to hear how it goes as well. I''m hoping to run it down the road myself.

I'll put up a post once I run it. Hopefully everyone will like it. People on Monte Cook's forum say they've run it and loved it. :)

The original Tomb of Horrors.

Handouts, pictures of everything you encounter, great stuff.

Plus, with Tomb of Horrors, it's dungeon groveling, not dungeon crawling.

It seems to me that those old AD&D modules had a lot more handouts than modules today. Not sure what's going on with that, changing times I guess.

The King of all systems for handouts, without a doubt, would be Call of Cthulhu. A lot of times, the adventures pay more attention to handouts than they do to the plot. Exotic environments aren't always there, but since it's set on contemporary Earth you can pretty much pick and choose what you'd like to highlight. Combat is rare, and I suppose it's "memorable", in the sense that the players will remember how badly they were thrashed. :p

Atlas games has an excellent HC campaign called "Splintered Peace"- it's mostly a roleplaying campaign with occasional sidequests. Since it's set in a city, there's plenty of NPCs as well, though the DM would have to work on the handouts thing.

BTW Wulf- I'm surprised you didn't put a plug in here for Slavelords, it sounds like the sort of thing he's looking for. ;)

Song of Storms from MonkeyGod Enterprises and Return to Temple of Elemental Evil by Wizards of the Coast are both good ones to run that would meet your defined criteria.

I can't recommend Of Sound Mind enough. Written by our own Piratecat, it's a fantastic first-level adventure with psionics in it, and it's full of interesting plot twists and cool surprises. Though there's a lil dungeon in it, the module certainly doesn't focus on the dungeon; neither the start nor the end of it are in the dungeon (well, unless everyone dies there, I suppose... ;))

I have to second this one. It's got everything you're looking for and there are tons of "little touches" that make this a great adventure. The player's loved the conclusion and it's got lots of stuff for an enterprising DM to do with it. Highly recommended.

 RtToEE is huge, it took my group about a 1.5 - 2 years to complete. Plus it's got a huge dungeon crawl in it. Sure you don't have to run it like that but very few groups can pull it off. If you do run it though make sure you check out Monte Cook's RtToEE forums, they've got an updated 3.5 errata/update.

The Lost City of Barakus by Necro Games is good although it too has a bit of a dungeon crawl in it. Has a lot of good wilderness stuff in it as well.

For low level campaigning, I would highly recommend Crucible of Freya. Not a lot of handouts, but just a kick ass adventure. Another big bonus on this module is the fact that you can download its prequel for FREE. Its called The Wizars Amulet and, for the price (free), I would recommend you DL a copy and see what you think. Crucible of Freya isnt free, but it rocks and has a pretty large area to explore with challenges of various sorts. Its released by Necromancer Games.

Necromancer also have a heap of websupport for Crucible of Freya.
