Help Making Samarui/Battle Maiden

Hello, everyone, my name is Anthony, if you can't tell and I have recently started gaming again, a couple of months ago. I hadn't played for over 5 years, and I was old school second edition

So a couple of my family members played 3rd edition, and some of their friends, so I joined up, purchased a players guide and started a bard.

Well now we are starting a Epic level adventure, we all get to start off as level 30 characters, and I found myself in love of ninjas, but now I dont really care for them, or I am just to weak...I am not very good at this character creating stuff yet


But to keep a long story short, I picked up oriental adventures and have really fallen in love with Samarui and Battle Maiden, mainly battle maiden, but its prestige, so nice to have a good starting class...

Well I would love any help, creating this character, I do not own a epic handbook, DM guid, or any of that yet

I am leaning toward level 20 samarui 10 battle maiden, do to the fact that my oriental adventure book only goes up to level 10 in battle maiden and I cant find their progression anywhere on the web passed level 10!

anyway I am only going to be skillled to used katana, and would love to be a very good archer as well!

By the way, is this campaign using 3rd edition ("3.0") or 3rd edition revised ("3.5") rules?

Yeah, 3.5 is the general assumption these days anyway but since you mentioned 3rd edition, I thought I'd better ask for clarification whether that was meant literally.

Now... What samurai are you using? OA or Complete Warrior? (If OA, I assume Unicorn, for bonus feats and such.) *edit* Never mind; you mentioned you don't have many books yet. OA it is, then.

Anyway, I don't know a lot about the oriental classes or the Battle Maiden, but since you said you don't own the Epic Level Handbook, this might be useful to you:

It's the SRD. Has all the basic rules, which includes Epic rules, Psionic rules (which it sounds like you won't need), and some stuff from the DMG.

And if you play a fighter-type class (like Samurai), then you get good with bows at the same rate as you get good with the katana. Well, barring feats.

Hehe yeah, sorry about that short post. I was just on the phone with the DM telling him what I am coming up with and if I can switch it out for my ninja Any help is much appreciated and grateful we are playing saturday hehe so I have a couple of days

Hopefully this weekend I can pick up a monter manual (I cant even get the battle maidens horse stats, hehe) DM guide, and epic level guide

I am totally new to all this stuff but it is a blast to play and I am a male in real life, so playing a female char will be totally different, since Battle Maidens can only be female

but I love the whole mount idea, I like human, and I love samarui, they get some very nice stats with the katana, plus good saves, and quite a bit of extra attacks

oops and yes, I do use alot of 's I find they are free and easy to give. I am just a happy person!

Oh, sorry darkness I just read the rest of your other post, yes it is a OA samarui not sure what the difference is, but I love there bonus feats and thier AD(weapon growth)

and I will be human, and yes of the unicorn clan
I think my name will be Riku and my horses name will be Mitsubishi (hehe)

The OA Samurai, if I'm not mistaken, is 3.0. They updated the Samurai in the Complete Warrior. I don't know what the mechanical differences are, though.

And this is where horses are.

and not sure on the 3.0 3.5 OA samarui difference, either way I guess my DM said I could use it
