Help me find some groomsmen's gifts!

I received d20 cuff links which we then wore as the groomsmen. It made quite the statement given that he didn't really go around telling his extended relatives that he played D&D (he didn't hide it or anything, it just doesn't come up that often) and we were then walking around with d20s hanging off our wrist.

I like this idea.

That's great! I wish you all the best, as one of the consistently nicest posters around here!

Thanks, on both counts.

I envy you at having a piper, though... the last wedding I was at had one and it was amazing.

I have a certain advantage in this regard - I have three brothers, all of whom have played at one time or another, and I play in a pipe band myself. So finding volunteers wasn't a problem - picking one was.

Actually, this will be the first family wedding at which I haven't played myself.

I'm extremely lucky, since Star Wars will be a part of the wedding, and also because she's still marrying me after I suggested one of the ushers dress as the Tron guy (he actually volunteered for this, and said he'd come out to start the ceremony by saying "greetings, programs!"

We aren't going to do this, mind you, but she almost agreed to have her maid of honor come in banging coconuts together to the travel theme from Holy Grail.

That's awesome.

First a hearty congratulations!

Second, have you thought about D20 cufflinks? Lots of companies make them, and if you wanted you could get them in a color matching your bridal colors and they can wear them for the ceremony (assuming your are wearing tuxedos - I wore 14th century period costume for my last wedding).

Of course, the silver metal versions go with anything. (D'oh, just saw someone else posted this - well grate minds think alike I guess.)

On a related note, they haven't gamed in a while, why not game right before the wedding in the waiting room before you go out (obviously a short one off). It will keep your mind off of the nervous jitters and is a great way to re-connect. I ran a game for one of my friends before he got married, time flew by and we ready to walk the aisle before we knew it.

I really like that you are using "non-traditional" music. I have been to a ton of weddings and the ones you remember the most are the ones that have a little something odd (the first I mentioned had several "acts" before the actual wedding with various members of the wedding party to keep guests entertained until "showtime", had the flower girl march the aisle to "The Shire" song from LotR (my daughter she was so cute) and I got lead a sword salute, bellow orders to the castle guards and chase an unruly bard out of my keep. :) All in all, a great day!

Specially designed dice to commemorate the day would be pretty cool... Chessex actually will allow you to make a run of 10 dice (a nice Mage's Handful for d6) for 1.00/side/die if you wanted to do all six sides... Or you could actually make dice that are specialized on the 1 and 6 or just the 1... Though you could also go with making an 'image die' set that could be any 3*2 image of you guys enjoying yourselves or what-have-you for 6.00 per die with a minimum of 18 dice (6 for each of you :) ) you could have a pretty little design for the groomsmen in a form that you guys like (though of course these will not be really 'usable').

Personally I would go with the 1 symbol for the 1 or 6 of a specific image you guys share in your friendship. Pretty kickass little prize :D.

Slainte,

When I got married my groomsmen got leathermen multi-tools. Not exactly rpg related but they were well received.

Is the procession going to be the Imperial March?

This is a really good idea. The one groomsman's gift I still use after 10 years in the leatherman my friend got me. I carry it with me everywhere.

As to the entrance, I almost got her to go with the music that the Emperor arrives to in Return of the Jedi. That and the Unicorn's Theme from Legend (the Tangerine Dream version...) Both of these were ultimately rejected, and at this point we don't have an entrance song. I'm trying the travel music from Holy Grail again. Yes, I'm a lucky guy, and I realize this...
