Help me find this feat... Please?

I know without a doubt that there is a feat that lets you make a Coup de Grace as a Standard Action instead of a Full Round Action but I can't seem to find it in any of my books. I know I've seen it before and it is driving me crazy.

Please help!

All I can do is reassure you that there is in fact such a feat. I remember it, and it SEEMS like I saw it only recently. A brief look through my books and custom build SRDs revealed nothing though. Sorry. :(

lol, In the time it takes to look Crothian, et al beat me to it.

It preexisted CA in case you don't have that; I think Song and Silence? I'm not sure it it has the same stats, though, my books arn't with me.

I think, (and don't quote me on this) I remember seeing such a feat in a friend's copy of Green Ronin's "Secret College of Necromancy". Maybe. It was something like that. Definitely not a WotC book, because I remember thinking what a campaign killer that could be when coupled with a hold person spell or two.

That is, I remember thinking "No way that's balanced! Never in a million years would that make it into a WotC book!" Time to find some crow to chow down on, methinks...

Cheers,

For the record, it's far past time there. It also appeared in Sword and Fist, the CV entry is just an update of it to 3.5. I'd be surprised if GR printed it after it appeared in a WotC book.

I emailed my friend. There is indeed a "Coup de Grace" feat in GR's Secret College of Necromancy (p.16). It allows a CdG as a free action, as many times per round as you have regular attacks. Requirements are moderate, BAB +3, Combat Reflexes, and Power Attack, as well as some ranks in Knowledge (anatomy).

Maybe Secret College of Necromancy came out about the same time as Sword and Fist.

That's actually different enough I don't think they'd run into any 'rights' issues. It's also pretty nasty....

If I'm reading that right if you drop a foe, you immediately take a free action to Coup them. Ouch. Which means if you drop, you die. That makes Death Blow look like Ice Cream and Lollipops.

Usually, a dropped opponent is dead anyway... for all intents and purposes at any rate. They only survive if the entire rest of their team survives and drives you off.

So maybe something nasty to give to a bad guy, but I can't see it as at all unbalancing for the PCs.
