Setting: d20 Modern, Shadow Chasers.
The group has been sent to a small town to investigate some unusual happenings that may be related to a shadow event.
Farmyard animals and small pets have been turning up dead, drained of blood, covered in hundreds of nickel-sized bite marks. The culprits are tiny 'blood' faeries, creatures that look in every way like pop-culture Tinkerbell faeries complete with gossamer wings and pixie dust.
Separating them from their cute & cuddly cousins is a slightly elongated mouth and thin, long lips. When attacking, the mouth opens so wide that it covers the entire face, leaving only a circular maw in view, much like that of a lamprey. The creature latches on and furiously drains its victim of blood. Once gorged, it flies off to slumber until another victim happens along.
Another interesting fact about the blood faery is its truly prodigious procreative tendencies. The things breed like rats, and with a gestation period of a little under a day, they can quickly infest and overwhelm an area.
Now, this encounter is meant to be a darkly humorous prelude to a much grimmer encounter later on. My question is this: What kind of havoc do you suggest these randy blood-suckers inflict on my poor little town?
The nastier, the funnier, the bloodier, the better.
Thanks.
