Help me make a combat teleporter without psionics

How about the Knight Phantom out of the Eberron five kingdoms book? It's very similar to the the eldritch knight, but it allows you to wear light armor, a good BAB, some interesting abilities like the ability to walk across water and to allow your weapon to ignore armor for a short duration. Combine that with your conjurer 5/fighter 1 and you might have what you're looking for.

As for it being eberron, just make it into an order of knighthood within the realms and you're golden.

I want to teleport around the battlefield, short distances, preferably as a swift action so I can do fun movement tricks.

There's a spell in Magic of Faerûn, which is probably also listed in Player's Guide to Faerûn, which might help some. Lutzaen's (sp?) Frequent Jaunt. IIRC, it has a 1 round/level duration and allows you to use a short ranged dimension door once per round as a move action.

There's the Teflammar (sp?) Shadowlord in some FR supplement (could be Unapproachable East), who has an ability to teleport a short distance and then make a full attack.

Hey, could someone help me out and tell me whether there actually are any swift action teleport spells? The character concept becomes 17 times less cool if I can never teleport next to someone and full attack (or whirlwind attack).

AFAIK, no. That's not a concept really supported by D&D, but something that belongs in a superhero game. Dimension Door explicitly ends your turn after you use it, ruling that out. Your best bet would be Dimension Hop from the PHBII, a spell that teleports you 5 feet per two caster levels. But it's still a standard action to cast. Duskblades, also PHBII, would probably be your best class. Full BAB and they can cast a spell as a swift action once per five levels. Aside from that you're looking at a Rod of Metamagic Quicken or a very powerful magic item.

But I say again, D&D does not support all concepts equally, and the teleporting warrior is not a very D&D concept. Better to look for a different game or a different concept.

Well, it supports it just fine through psionics, which is what got me started on this character in the first place. What about the 'Dimension Step' spell? I've heard about it, but I haven't seen it. Surely there has to be a swift action short-range teleport spell. I mean, it's a 1st-level option with psionics, and with the psionics build I could teleport 100 ft.

Maybe I should just ask the GM to let me create a bloody spell.

Hehe, well updated from BoED anyhow. ;)

Edit - New to me anyhow heh, never used much out of that book. Now that I check though it looks like they didn't change anything. Not much of an update then either, really more of a footnote reference then lol.

*rocking and mumbling to self* "...must not say anything disparaging about psionics, must not say anything disparaging about psionics, must...resist..." :p

Like I stated earlier, the only way I can of to overcome the lack of action restriction following a Dimension Door is through the Sun School tactical feat in Complete Warrior. That would allow you to jaunt, and then at least get a single attack (not a full attack, but can't have everything).

The only other way I can think of is through a Ring of Blinking... not quite the same, I know.

Quick (ening) question...

A lot of people have meantioned quickening the teleport/DDoor/similiar abilities or spells. However if I remember correctly you can't DO anything after you've made on of those transportational jaunts anyway.

So, how much bonus is there to be gained from quickening the porting?

You could certainly do a standard or full round action and port away, but you couldn't port there and do ANYthing.
